24-Hour Musical FAQ
You’ve heard we’re doing a 24-hour musical, but what is it?
A 24-hour musical is a theatrical production where participants—from actors to crew—have only 24 hours to rehearse, produce, and perform a complete musical. The title is revealed at the start, and the curtain goes up exactly one day later!
How does the process work?
The process starts with a kick-off meeting where the musical is announced, and roles are assigned. From that moment, participants have 24 hours to learn lines, songs, and choreography, as well as handle technical aspects like set design, costumes, and lighting. Everyone works around the clock to bring the show to life in a single day.
Who can participate?
Our 24-hour musical is open to anyone aged 16 and up! Whether you're an experienced performer or a newcomer interested in trying something new, we welcome participants of all levels. Non-performing roles are available too, such as helping with costumes, set, tech, or promotions.
What should I expect if I join as a performer?
As a performer, you'll be assigned a role after the musical is announced. You’ll dive straight into rehearsals, learning lines, songs, and choreography. Expect an intense but exhilarating experience, filled with creativity, teamwork, and plenty of fun.
When are auditions and what can I expect?
Auditions will be held approximately one month before the event. The creative team will select audition pieces tailored to different characters in the show, ensuring they fit the roles without revealing the musical’s title. Remember, this experience is all about collaboration—everyone will have an important part to play. It’s less about landing a specific role and more about working together to create an incredible production in a short time!
Do I need to prepare anything in advance?
No preparation is needed before the event. The entire musical, from the cast being announced to the final performance, happens within the 24-hour window. Just come with a positive attitude, ready to collaborate and have a great time!
What should I bring?
Bring comfortable clothing suitable for moving around during rehearsals, a water bottle, snacks, and any personal items you might need for an overnight stay. If you have any specific skills (e.g., sewing, makeup), feel free to bring related supplies in case they’re useful. Blacks will be required for the performance to go under costumes if needed.
Can I be involved without performing on stage?
Absolutely! There are many essential off-stage roles, including set design, costume creation, lighting, sound, props management, and more. We need all hands on deck to make this event a success!
Can I watch the performance if I'm not participating?
Yes! The final performance is open to the public. We encourage friends, family, and community members to come and enjoy the show. Tickets will be available soon!
When and where does the performance take place?

What if I can't stay for the entire 24 hours?
While we encourage participants to stay for the full 24 hours to fully experience the event, we understand if you need to leave for part of the time. Please communicate any time constraints to the organisers ahead of time so we can plan accordingly.
